Dickhead Codpiece - Molded Leather Wearable Art. 2020

Codpieces were originally designed to cover men’s privates in the days before pants, when they wore tights that consisted only of two legs. Later they became the answer to pocketless trousers, storing money and snacks. Eventually they became an over-exaggerated, ornate symbol of masculinity, adopted in modern times by leather daddies and metal bands alike. I created “Dickhead Codpiece” in part to poke fun at the absurdity of over-exaggerated masculinity and also to merge imagery from BDSM with a nearly forgotten historical garment.

Mottephobia  - Installation/Performance Art. 2018

Mottephobia, the fear of moths, is an irrational fear that I have suffered from since childhood. The fast flapping of their wings has always sent shivers up my spine. In Mottephobia, I collaborated with a team of artists and scientists to face my fear and stand in a box with live moths.
